The Cornerstone application is a full-featured system with extensive document creation capabilities, an automated account specific rules engine and built-in QA functionality. The Spheris Clarity platform automatically prioritizes and routes dictations to transcription resources, in-house or outsourced, to ensure that turnaround times are met while minimizing costs.

- MLS quality and production focused: Cornerstone incorporates proprietary tools and background functionality that allow the MLS to focus on the content of the text rather than formatting, account specific instructions, and other factors that reduce productivity and negatively impact quality. Users are notified with an audible signal when they receive a STAT or priority job in their queue.
- Continuous Learning: The Spheris Cornerstone application incorporates continuous learning of the speech engine when edits are made to documents by users on any Spheris application, resulting in improved accuracy and completeness going forward.
- ADT integration: Tight integration with ADT feed enables patient demographic information to be loaded with a job and automatically populated in the worktype template. MLSs can look up patient or physician information in real time if data is missing or incorrect.
- Online collaboration: MLSs have the ability to request assistance from other team members through the online collaboration feature, sharing the voice and text from a specific job, resulting in fewer blanks and improved turnaround time for jobs that historically would be routed to quality assurance for assistance.
- Dictation system support: The system is able to leverage either the Clarity Capture digital dictation system or other legacy dictation systems for physician dictation capture.
- Support For Radiology/Orders Based Dictation: The Spheris Cornerstone application supports linking multiple accession numbers and orders, a workflow requirement for radiology, pathology and other departmental documentation.
- Universal document and workflow manager: Dictation, transcription and access information is combined into a single multi-media document to improve patient data access and privacy control. Once the transcribed report is completed, the document is routed to the physician for online e-signature approval.
