Steven E. Simpson

Steven E. Simpson was elected to the board in August 2002.

Simpson brings more than 20 years of experience as an accomplished healthcare professional in executive roles with Spheris, WebMD, Johnson & Johnson and Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation. He began his career as a sales representative for Johnson & Johnson and over the next 11 years assumed increasing levels of responsibility through several senior management positions with the company. In 1996, he joined Columbia/HCA as Vice President, Sales & Product Line Development where he established the first international hospital system sales organization. Simpson then became Chief Sales & Marketing Officer and later Chief Operating Officer of Envoy Corporation, the nation's leading healthcare electronic transactions company, until WebMD acquired Envoy. He served as President of WebMD's Transaction Services Division and was later promoted to Executive Vice President, Sales & Product Development for all of WebMD. From August 2002 through November 2008, Simpson served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Spheris.

Today, Simpson also serves on a number of boards and committees of private and public companies and charitable organizations. He holds a bachelor of arts from Mercer University.
