John A. Kane

John "Jack" A. Kane joined the Spheris Board of Directors in November 2006. Kane was formerly Senior Vice President – Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of IDX Systems Corporation from 1984 until the acquisition of IDX by GE Healthcare.

During his tenure with IDX, Kane helped grow the company from a small, privately held business to a publicly traded leader in the healthcare IT industry. He was a key decision maker in 11 acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures, and at various times directly managed the finance, facilities, legal, human resources, and information systems functions for the company. Prior to joining IDX, Kane was employed as an audit manager at Ernst & Young, LLP, in Boston.

Kane serves as a director of Burlington, Vermont-based Merchants Bank. He is also active in the Burlington community as a director for the Flynn Center for Performing Arts where he serves as treasurer. Kane is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor of science and master of accountancy from Brigham Young University.
